A day in Milan

Today it actually felt like two days in Milan. After an early morning arrival and Malpensa airport and a train into Cadorna Station we walked to Via Savona and we quickly dropped off our luggage and then returned toward, the Duomo di Milano. We had hoped to make it to the Duomo but it started to rain.

We took refuge from the rain in the Bascillica Di Saint Ambrogio. After a brief shower we returned to our hotel and took a well needed nap before returning on our journey to the Duomo di Milano.

As we walked toward the Duomo we were blocked by barricades around the Duomo for a public concert that was taking place in front of the Duomo, but in the mean time we found the Galleria Vittorio and the marble floors and did some window shopping. This was a must see in Milano since it is prominent art on the wall at John and Louise’s and we had to see this in person.

After dinner at an nice outside cafe we did manage to circle the Duomo di Milano and take some nice pictures up close while listening to the nearby concert

This was a lot of walking, and we continued back toward our hotel after a nice day in Milano and of course Tracy found the Gelataria with the award for best gelato in Milano.

Kayak Great Nauset Marsh

We left from Hemenway boat launch and paddled North and NE too the channel. It was 2 hours before high tide, overcast with light rain forecast. A good steady wind from the N.  Lots of seals and shore birds. We crossed the channel toward the back side of barrier island and found a path between the closed beach sections for bird nesting and erosion control. We tried to paddled toward the end of the channel but against the wind, tide and waves was too difficult.  Once we went with the wind and tide it was smooth sailing.
